Machine Operative
Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Machine Operative. (Yarn Production) In this role, you will play a vital part in our production team, helping to efficiently transform raw materials into high-quality yarn. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and gain hands-on experience with various production processes.
- Operating various machinery in textile mill, including carding, fettling, spinning, and winding machinery, converting raw materials into yarn.
- Setting up machine, controlling and adjusting settings & reporting issues
- Work efficiently and effectively to meet production targets.
- Maintain a safe working environment through the strict adherence to company health and safety rules and procedures. Actively participate in promoting excellent health and safety in the workplace
- Perform daily quality checks to maintain production of the highest quality yarn.
- Effectively communicate any quality concerns and issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure that a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
- Ensuring that all cleaning and lubrication is carried out when the machines are at a standstill, following standards operating procedures in full
- Assist department supervisors and manager when required.
- Provide absence cover for yarn production and yarn store operatives when necessary.
- Provide training for trainees and less experienced members of the team when you are fully trained and competent.
- Any other duties as and when reasonably requested by the management team
- Some mechanical experience would be preferred
- Comfortable with manual handling adhering to Health & Safety requirements
- Work under own initiative and as part of a team
- Excellent attendance and timekeeping
- Positive can-do attitude, keen to learn
- Able to work in a fast-paced role, and able to run number of machines at once
- Full capacity to recognise and distinguish between different colours.
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement within a production environment
- Computer literate – will receive addition training on SAP system and scanners
